Inside Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen's turbulent year - marriage split to new start

Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has endured her most turbulent year yet in 2022.

The shepherdess burst on to screens alongside husband Clive, their nine children and collection of animals back in 2018.

Things appeared to be going smoothly for the Owen's as they banded together to meet the demands of the running Ravenseat Farm - but this year it was all change.

First Amanda and Clive stunned fans with the news their 22 year marriage was over.

Shortly after TV bosses confirmed their hit show Our Yorkshire Farm had been axed for good - leaving their followers reeling once again.

Making the announcement at the time, Daniel Pearl, Commissioning Editor for Factual at Channel 5, explained: “The Owens have become everyone’s favourite farming family and millions have enjoyed watching their unique way of life.

”We remain absolutely committed to the whole wonderful Owen family and hope to announce new projects with Amanda very soon.”

We take a look behind the scenes of the iconic British programme and what the family plan on doing next.

A call from social services

In June this year Amanda admitted that her unique parenting style sparked a call from social services.

The mother-of-nine has previously defended her methods after she and Clive were accused of 'breeding their own workforce'.

Speaking at the Hay Festival of Literature & Arts in Wales, Amanda opened up about the unexpected call and admitted that she while she 'didn't see herself as the perfect parent' she still stood up for her family.

"I don't see myself as a perfect parent," she said. "I got a yellow flag from social services... I believe there is a happy medium whereby you do let the kids climb trees.

"Yes, they haven't got harnesses on or hard hats, but I believe there are some lessons to be learned that don't necessarily result in instant death but actually learn your own parameters."

In August, Amanda shared some adorable snaps of her enjoying the heatwave with her brood.

After taking some very rare time off, the mum revealed she and her youngest kids were getting to grips with nature in the funnest ways possible as they swam in lakes and climbed rocks in the school holidays.

"Finally the Summer holidays! #yorkshire #summer #swim #camp #work #play," wrote Amanda.

Amanda, 47 and Clive, 68 shocked fans by announcing that they were splitting after 22 years of marriage.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess broke the news to her 517,000 followers on Instagram.

A statement from the pair read: “Clive and I are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate.

“This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family.

“Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority the happiness and well-being of our children.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support and would ask the media please respect our privacy as we work through this difficult time.”

The couple met in 1995 when Amanda was asked to visit Clive's Ravenseat Farm in North Yorkshire when she first started out as a shepherdess.

He was running the farm alone after his first divorce when Amanda walked into his life.

She was just 21 years old at the time, and he was 42.

It was love at first sight for Clive, who spoke of their meeting during an episode of Our Yorkshire Farm.

“I do remember this six-foot something woman knocked at the door – I was very taken with her. You couldn’t not be,” he recalled.

Speaking about the break-up on the Lorraine Kelly Show, Amanda admitted things have been 'really tough.'

“It’s really tough and it’s a really difficult aspect to get across because when you do reality, it has to be just that.

“That means to cover the ups and downs and that can be on any level but you know life carries on and on the farm there are a lot of things to do - nine children and a whole leap of animals so I’m just working away, the same as before," she said.

Amanda reunites with Clive

After splitting from her husband , it wasn't long before Amanda and Clive reunited.

The exes joined forces to support their daughter Raven as she graduated.

Sharing pics from the happy occasion, Amanda said in her post: "Rain wasn’t going to dampen anyone’s spirits on what was a really special day."

She later posted a picture of son Reuben and wrote: "Proud of these two [Reuben and Raven] in equal measure. Yes indeed, they certainly wear different hats but are both undoubtedly first class."

New beginnings...

After Our Yorkshire Farm has come to an end, Amanda and Clive both announced new TV projects as they move on in their personal and professional lives.

Amanda is preparing to travel across the UK to meet with other farmers and learn about their inspirational stories.

The six-part show called Amanda Owen's Extraordinary Farming Lives will feature on Channel 4.

Clive and Reuben will be starring in their own spin off show (Channel 5)

While Clive and his son Reuben have already filmed their own spin-off show on Channel 5 charting their journey into business together.

In one emotional scene, Clive was seen talking to his boy about his new relationship.
