Inside one of Edinburgh cheapest homes - and it needs a lot of work

While house prices in Edinburgh continue to soar we took a look at one of the cheapest properties on the market - a two bedroom flat in Sighthill - but it needs a lot of work.

The property located in the west of the city is looking for offers over £130,000 for a two bedroom flat this is one of the lowest prices in Edinburgh just now.

The spacious two-bedroom flat is derelict inside with scrappy interiors, crumbling walls and a grime covered kitchen but look beyond the abandoned aesthetic of the property instead focusing on the large rooms and cheap asking price you could have a stunning space.

The main door upper villa requires a full refurbishment and is the perfect blank canvas for the creative type who wants to create their dream home from scratch.

What could be the living room is large and spacious with built in shelves, and a decent sized window to allow daylight to pour into the property.

The kitchen is probably the worst for wear out of the two-bedroom flat and definitely needs more than a bottle of bleach to bring it back to it's former glory. It's a good size with the door opening straight into the living room and features a small window.

The hallway in its current state has serious Trainspotting vibes with the grim toilet in the distance and the deep red carpet similar to the one in Mother Superior's home but with some TLC you could transform the hallway making it a bright and welcoming passageway.

Both bedrooms are a similar size and each have a window for outdoor light to come in, traces of the old pastel blue and pink furnishings are still present - just waiting to be ripped away with a particularly dated carpet in one of the rooms.

Waterman's who are marketing the property wrote: "Offering an exciting opportunity for those looking to modernise a property and put their own stamp on it, this main-door upper villa in Parkhead in Edinburgh is in need of full renovation, giving the new owner a blank canvas to style to their own taste and requirements.

"The property accommodates two double bedrooms and a spacious reception room, and enjoys a sunny rear aspect. Externally, the villa benefits from a private garden and access to unrestricted on-street parking."
