Inside new Love Island villa with more private areas for cast to 'sneak off too' and 'arena' for dramatic moments

The brand new Love Island villa has been unveiled in Mallorca just days before the cast are set to make themselves at home for the summer.

And according to show bosses it has been specially designed this year to make more room for intense couple chats and drama at the newly built fire pit.

The show's executive producer, Mike Spencer said: "It's the first time, I think, that we've designed it more editorially. We know how many chat areas we need, we know you want those places you can sneak off to."

He also explained that the fire pit area where the islanders often gather ahead of big moments such as dumpings and the announcement of new arrivals will return and will act as more of an ‘arena’ for the show's most dramatic moments.

Past series’ of the popular dating show have been filmed at a property near Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, in the east of the Spanish island.

It was reportedly unavailable for series eight set to begin on Monday, so show bosses have been working behind the scenes on creating a brand new home for the contestants.

The new villa is again situated in Mallorca's green and mountainous landscape in the east of the island.

With work on the redesign in action since January, the new look villa is ready and waiting for the fresh batch of contestants to arrive with a new giant chrome heart sitting outside the front to mark the location for the summer of love.

Inside the villa will have a similar layout to the show's previous location, with the bedroom on the ground floor decked out with multiple double beds.

Reverting back to earlier seasons, the beds are facing each other rather than being placed in a long row this season.

Spencer said: "This is the biggest bedroom we’ve had.

"So basically the idea behind this was we wanted to take it back to what it used to be in the early series where they're opposite each other.

“So yeah, it has that because I think there's so much more banter when you're cross and going to bed at night."

‘The dog house’ is also back with a foldout bed in the living room ready for anyone who finds themself in trouble with their partner and sleeping alone during the season.

The girl’s dressing room will return bigger and better with more seats and storage space, and will once again lead out to the enclosed sun terrace overlooking the infinity pool.

Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 6th June on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
