Inside Mark Labbett's remarkable 10-stone weight loss as Chase star 'finds love again'

Mark Labbett stunned the nation last year when he showcased his incredible new physique and revealed he had achieved an incredible 10-stone weight loss.

The Chase star, who is often referred to as his stage name The Beast, turned his health around after he completely revamped his diet and managed to lose 140 pounds naturally without the help of any surgical operations.

His weight is not the only recent life change the ITV quizzer has made after he and his second cousin wife Katie announced they were going their separate ways in 2020. Mark has since been linked to his new rumoured beau TV presenter Hayley Palmer.

It comes after the Chaser once again wowed fans with his continued weight loss in a new Instagram post alongside model Caprice Bourett as he announced that he has landed an exciting role in a Christmas film.

The dad-of-one is now looking healthier and happier with his new physique but his weight loss seems to be a long time coming after the star's health began to decline due to his unhealthy lifestyle.

The TV personality previously revealed that in 2003 he was at his heaviest weight of 29 stone when he was working as a maths teacher.

It was not until 2016 that the dad-of-one realised he had to make a serious change in his life after doctors diagnosed him with Type 2 Diabetes and told him he had to make some real improvements for his health.

Mark's real weight loss journey properly began during lockdown 2020 amid the breakdown of his seven year marriage.

The Beast had already lost around three stone but saw the weight fall off him after all the nurseries closed during the pandemic and he found himself running around after his "hyperactive" toddler, Lawrence at the time.

Mark has denied receiving any surgery to help him lose weight, admitting he did consider it at one point but doctors had warned him that having a gastric band fitted in his body would be dangerous due to the way his body digests sugar.

So the ITV star was left with no option but to shed the pounds the old fashioned way - through a "complete nutrition overhaul" and exercise.

Speaking of his 10-stone weight loss during an interview on This Morning, he said that eliminating two food groups from his diet was the key to his staggering weight loss and those were carbs and sugar.

He also admitted on the Loose Women panel that his weight dramatically dropped due to exhaustion: "I found at the end of the evening instead of going to the fridge for late night snacking, all I could do was collapse on the bed."

However, Mark was still losing weight in healthy ways as he credited his beloved Labrador Retriever Baloo for keeping him busy with outdoor walks.

Mark said: "I was walking him around the fields, taking me places... I think he's helped a lot, simply because I'm doing more activity."

The star was also diagnosed with Covid-19 during the pandemic and said he lost a considerable amount of weight while he was experiencing the typical symptoms such as a loss of taste and smell as he "didn't want to eat" in the two weeks that he had them.

Mark is now the "smallest" he's been in thirty years after shedding a whopping 64kg and standing at 6ft 6ins tall.

He still appears as The Beast on ITV's The Chase in the UK but was axed from the US version of the show earlier this year.
