Manchester City's jubilant players celebrated their latest Premier League title triumph – then vowed to go on and make it a Treble.
Pep Guardiola's side celebrated a third straight title triumph, with defender Kyle Walker claiming they are ready to add the FA Cup and Champions League to make history. City face local rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on June 3, where victory would leave them one win away from matching their Treble triumph of 1999.
Inter Milan in the Champions League final on June 10 is the last leg of the potential Treble, with Walker insisting they can make it a clean sweep of all three trophies.
"Rest assured, we're not finished,” said Walker. “We have the FA Cup against our bitter rivals and then the Champions League. We'll enjoy it tonight, have a few glasses of champagne, then move on to June to try and create history. The Treble would be fantastic, but there's a lot of football to be played.
"To say we're up there with one of the greatest Premier League teams of all time, we have to conquer some of that. To go and achieve that, we could then start talking about being one of the greatest teams in the Premier League.”
City were eight points adrift of leaders Arsenal on April 7 – six weeks later they were crowned champions for the fifth time in six seasons, having won their last 12 Premier League fixtures.
Several of the City stars, including Jack Grealish, Julian Alvarez, Rodri and Phil Foden dancing in the dressing room alongside a host of staff members as they sang "We are the champions" with beers in hand.
Walker admitted it was tough going chasing down the Gunners, but said City started to believe they could reel them in after beating Liverpool 4-1 at the Etihad on April 1.
“After coming back from the World Cup and beating Liverpool here, I thought that was a stamp,” said Walker “We had a lot of the lads missing and the manager had been working hard with the lads that were here. From then on, we always believed we could do it. This group of lads are second to none, they're winners and that's how we get across the line more times than not.”
As he danced in front of City's ebullient fans, 52-goal striker Erling Haaland said: "It's unreal. I don't know what to say. These are the memories I'll remember for the rest of my life. It's special. I'm going to enjoy this day. It is amazing. My debut season, 36 goals, the Premier League trophy and two more finals to come. Not bad."
Grealish, City's £100million winger, said: "It's different for me personally, as I've played more of a part.
"I feel so much more confident in this team. I feel fitter and back to what I know, what I can do. This is why City bought me and I have so much to offer. It doesn't stop yet, we still have some massive games left. Since the last international break, we feel unstoppable and we have been unbelievable."
City defender John Stones echoed his teammates and said: "The next goal is to finish the season well and keep everyone fit. The FA Cup final is such a special cup for me personally, as an Englishman and only winning it once previously. Then we can fully focus on the Champions League final."
Chelsea caretaker boss Frank Lampard, who played at City for a season, hailed Guardiola's champions as the benchmark for the Premier League.
“They're outstanding and that's why they're on for a possible Treble,” said Lampard. “Their level for the past two months or longer has been outstanding. They've been building this for years. I was here for a year, they have incredible vision and brought in a great coach and players, so they're the benchmark.”
