Inside 'magnificent' Edinburgh townhouse renovation impressing property enthusiasts

Everyone enjoys looking at properties, whether it's scrolling on Rightmove or Zoopla at homes you wish you could afford but can't or simply having a look at what your neighbour's property looks like after seeing the for sale sign.

But with social media always growing, one app that has grown quite popular is TikTok. Whether you're into cooking, cleaning, eating and drinking or travelling, there's a side of the video app for everyone.

And it seems as though those on the property side of the app are enthusiastic, with one TikTok about a renovation in the capital getting quite a bit of attention. Taking to the video sharing app, @edinburghproperty uploaded a video of them walking around the yet-to-be converted stunning townhouse.

In the video, you enter the property through the front of the house, which leads directly to a large hallway with stairs to the left. Walking through another door, there is another hallway with a "future snug room" and the original fireplace to the right.

There are more rooms, with another one being a large master bedroom, as well as a large guest bedroom — both with an en-suite.

In addition to this, there will be an open-plan kitchen and living room, which will be extended outside. As well as cleaning up the inside of the house, the outside will also need a new look, with the south-facing garden — perfect for when the sun is out — set to be landscaped with an internal courtyard also to be developed on the property.

Discussing plans in the comments, the developers added: "You’ll access the kitchen/dining/living via the snug," stating they will soon be sharing floor plans for those keen to keep up with the journey.

In another video, which can be watched here, they have shown off all of the property's traditional features that they will be retaining and restoring, such as traditional fireplaces as well as stunning ceiling rose and cornicing.

Talking to Edinburgh Live they said: "After a long wait to secure planning permission, listed building consent and a building warrant, I am really excited that the renovation work has finally started at the property. The property has some incredible original features and I am really looking forward to restoring them to their former glory. CTD are the main contractor and have done a great job so far, while Jones Robbins are the architects who have come up with the modern but complimentary design."

The video, which has since gone viral with more than 12,000 likes and over 200,000 views, has many people hooked. And people are keen for updates, asking what rooms were upstairs — with them teasing it's a secret and that all will be revealed soon.

In response to the video, users took to the comment section, with one saying: "I can’t believe you can buy such a magnificent home in Edinburgh for under £400k. It’s time to leave London I think! Can’t wait watch this renovation."

Another added: "Beautiful building. You're so lucky."

"Gorgeous house," wrote a third.
