Inside KFC at Christmas reveals how famous gravy is made which put some viewers 'off for life'

KFC claim have been ‘put off for life’ by a Channel 4 documentary which exposed the secrets of its famous gravy.

KFC at Christmas has lifted the lid on life behind the fast food counter and the revelation on how its infamous side-dish is made appears to have left viewers divided.

Staff member Anne, from the Buckshaw branch in the north west of England, was the star of the show and revealed secrets of the gravy which some say they would happily ‘bathe’ in, reports the Chronicle.

Buckshaw sells enough gravy in a week to fill nine bathtubs and Anne said it's so sought aftercustomers even rang police when their local branch ran out.

But what really got viewers going was a section on how this meaty substance is made - Anne hadds two scoops of 'crackling' to 3.5 litres of cold water.

But this crackling is not the crackling many of us know and love, as the show's narrator revealed that KFC crackling is made up of left overs from the bottom of the chicken fryer.

Before putting the mix into a microwave, Anne added a 'magic ingredient' - so secretive that it doesn't even say what it is on the packet.

After whisking the concoction and putting it in the microwave, Anne said: "I'm a great believer if you wouldn't eat it yourself you shouldn't expect anyone else to eat it."

The narrator's gravy revelations dismayed many and Twitter became flooded with reaction..

One tweeted: "How they make the gravy has put me off @kfc for life! I guessed it would be bad but this is SAVAGE!!" and, in agreement, another added: "Inside @kfc at Christmas = me never ever eating KFC gravy ever again!!"

A third reacted: "If your watching “Inside KFC at Christmas” & you order there (sic) Gravy again after seeing that, then your a scum bag mate," and a fourth commented: "The show about KFC at Christmas has put me right off their gravy!"

However, some watched the show and got gravy cravings, with one tweeting: "Watching KFC at Christmas and suddenly I want to bath in their bloody gravy" another fan enthusing: "KFC gravy is absolute god tier.

"We have it on our family Christmas dinner no joke"

Another scene in Inside KFC at Christmas saw Chorley staff member Adam informing viewers that the test to see if the gravy is right is if a chip sinks slowly into it, before he downed a pot and said he can "drink it like tea."
