Inside Kaley Cuoco’s old-money-style home bar: How luxe details and clever storage turn entertaining into an art form

Kaley Cuoco.

A home bar is an inherent luxury; a devoted space to mix drinks and entertain guests, it should be decorated with intention and, we would argue, a sense of glamour.

That's been Kaley Cuoco's approach, as seen on her designer Jeff Andrew's Instagram page. The Big Bang Theory star's home bar is modern, Art Deco-inspired, and luxe as they come, with metallic vases and cocktail accessories, assorted drinking vessels, and glass dominating the space (both cups and a transparent wine cabinet).

The blend of materials and shapes, as well as the smart shelving and storage units, make for a truly elegant yet contemporary space – and we are taking notes on these home bar ideas.

Design experts say that looking to design eras of the past for inspiration is a fantastic way to infuse your home bar with personality and visual intrigue.

Martin Waller, the founder of Andrew Martin, says, 'A bar cabinet is a design element you can play with; taking influence from the cocktail days of the Roaring '20s or the bachelor-style allure of the 50s and 60s. It is a piece whose purpose is to enable a party atmosphere at any time, so it should echo enjoyable excess, like a stylised piece of room jewellery rather than a practical go-to.'

Kaley's playful touches of gold, as well as jewel tones like emerald and amethyst, create an opulent feel, while the glass bar stools have a retro, '60s or '70s-inspired ambiance.

Lighting is also crucial to making a home bar feel more luxe. We can see that Kaley's home bar features under-shelf lighting to illuminate the glasses and liquor bottles, while designers say that other fixtures can also contribute to the overall feeling.

'Decorating with statement lighting or accessories, such as a chandelier or opulent glassware, helps to create ambiance and make your home bar a stylish and inviting addition to your space,' Susie Atkinson, the founder and creative director of Studio Atkinson, explains.

With some shiny accessories and the right lighting, even the smallest corners of the home can become luxury home bars.
