Fall wedding season tends to be filled with cozy decor and rustic venues, but newly released photos of Hayley Bloomingdale's Santa Barbara wedding have us dreaming of summer.
Bloomingdale, who is heiress to the department store and Moda Operandi’s communications director, married lighting designer Alexander “Dada” Stileman in late October. But now more details and photos have emerged via Vogue, which were shared on Bloomingdale's Instagram account.
The London-based couple got engaged during a Lake District hiking weekend in February, where Stileman surprised her with a custom Jessica McCormack ring that he helped design. The couple chose California as their wedding destination because it's where Bloomingdale grew up, bringing back fond childhood memories of days at the beach.
The weekend kicked off with a “Mexican fiesta” themed celebration at the rooftop of the Hotel Californian that featured music from a Mariachi band and a toast (that was more like roast) from Bloomingdale’s brothers. The bride’s festive lacy red dress that was designed by Johanna Ortiz matched the party’s sunset setting.
For the “I Dos," the day started off with a traditional ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where Bloomingdale wore a Carolina Herrera dress that was designed by her friend Wes Gordon for a personal touch. The v-neck dress featured California poppies that were delicately embroidered on the skirt and the long train was complemented by a simple veil. The couple opted for a children-only bridal party, also seen at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, which Bloomingdale attended.
The ocean-side cocktail reception was held at the Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club at the Four Seasons Hotel Biltmore, where guests ate American comforts such as surf and turf options and chocolate chip cookies. For a more dance-friendly ensemble, Bloomingdale changed into a pearl-detailed flapper dress that was also designed by Herrera.
While the couple’s honeymoon reportedly isn’t until Christmas, the newlyweds treated themselves to a post-wedding trip to Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
