Inside Glasgow's most expensive rental flat on the market for £5,500 a month

By Gary Armstrong

At the end of last year we reported on the Glasgow rental market 'going crazy' with prices soaring across the city.

Twelve months after the start of the pandemic in March 2020, rental prices across Scotland had increased by a massive 11 per cent, significantly higher than the UK average of six per cent.

Glasgow property agents claimed they had been handling around 250 enquiries a day for homes that had recently been advertised.

With prices still remaining high at the start of 2022, we thought we'd have a look on RightMove to find out what is the most expensive rental property on the market right now.

And our search took us to Garnethhill, with a five-bedroom property up for rent at £5,500 per month, equating to £66,000 a year.

Marketed by OpenRent, London, there's no doubting this Rose Street flat's appeal, despite the hefty price tag. Recently renovated, the space has modern fixtures and fittings throughout and includes an outdoor terrace at the front of the property.

The pad is set over two floors with one bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining room and bathroom upstairs and four more bedrooms, a bathroom and utility room on the lower level.

The space does come furnished, however bills are not included.

Meanwhile the agents say the flat is open to student living, however warn that because the property does not hold an HMO licence, it's unsuitable for five unrelated tenants.
