Inside Gemma Owen and Molly Mae's huge Pretty Little Thing deals

Love Island's Gemma Owen and Molly-Mae Hague both signed huge deals with Pretty Little Thing after the show.

Earlier this week, series eight runner-up Gemma Owen signed a lucrative agreement with Pretty Little Thing (PLT). The fast fashion brand is held on a pedestal by Love Island stars and is joked as the real cash prize for going on to the show.

Series five contestant Molly-Mae Hague also bagged a deal of her own back in 2021 and went on to become the show's highest earner. Though other Love Island contestants have gone on to be wildly successful in their own right, Gemma and Molly-Mae tower over the majority.

Pretty Little Thing announced they reached an agreement with Gemma on Monday with an Instagram post to mark the occasion. The 19-year-old smiled as she signed the deal surrounded by pink pastel furnishings. The caption said: "IT’S OFFICIAL. Welcome to the PLT family @gemowen_1. We can’t wait to show everyone what we’re working on…"

Discussing the deal, Gemma said: "I wore PrettyLittleThing throughout my time on the show and now being announced as one of their newest ambassadors alongside some incredible talent including Love Island alumni is really special.

"The team has been amazing and I'm excited to get to work and start designing some collections for you all." The one-year partnership sits at a "six-figure sum" and will see the reality star represent the PLT woman in future campaigns. She will also act as the driving force behind their new platform, PLT Marketplace, where customers can resell their items to improve sustainability.

Shortly after Molly-Mae left Love Island, PLT snapped her up instantly. She was initially offered a deal worth £500,000 and, the following year, she collaborated with the brand again for £600,000. In 2021, the company made her a permanent fixture as they hired her as their creative director.

Sharing the news on Instagram, she said: " I’m beyond ecstatic to announce that I am the new CREATIVE DIRECTOR of @prettylittlething for UK/EU. This is the biggest move in my career so far and I can’t explain my gratitude to my favourite brand in the world for trusting me with this role.

PLT have had faith in me from the VERY start and to now be a Director within the business feels like a complete dream come true. I hope you’re all ready for my visions to come to life within this incredible brand… To celebrate this huge news I’m bringing you without a doubt my best collection to date, I’ve worked on this collection now for SO long and I’m beyond proud of it! Now LIVE and available to shop…. I can’t wait to see you all in it!"

Molly-Mae's net worth has since skyrocketed to around £6m, making her the wealthiest Love Island star to date. Gemma's famous background - the daughter of football legend Michael Owen - has skewed her net worth but her recent deal has put her on the highest earner list regardless.
