Until his departure from Match of the Day on Sunday, Gary Lineker was the BBC’s highest-paid star — a title he held for seven consecutive years — and had a salary of £1.35 million.
It seems the broadcaster and former professional footballer has also proved to be a savvy property investor in recent years, reportedly making two purchases worth £1.6 million ahead of his BBC exit.
Lineker founded GCGL Properties Ltd in 2020 with his friend, builder George Constand. The property company bought a four-bedroom bungalow in Couldson, south London, for £630,000 in 2023 and, after a series of rejections and despite strong local opposition, planning permission has now been granted to build two four-bedroom semi-detached houses on the plot.

Barnes
Lineker currently lives in Barnes, the Thames-side village in south west London.
The BBC presenter has shared glimpses of his home, reportedly worth around £4 million, on social media, including a swanky cinema room, a gym and expansive garden.

The cinema room has red recliner chairs and a huge TV, as well as framed photographs.
His kitchen has exposed brick walls, wood flooring and green counters, alongside rustic furnishings, such as a stainless steel cooker.
“I love colour, you can see there are lots of splashes of colour in the kitchen. The big artwork on the wall is actually an artist’s floor that I bought in Paris. There’s a little bit of Soho House vibe in the house, which I like,” Lineker told London Resident.
His living room is also contemporary in design, with a turquoise, gold-rimmed sofa, high ceilings, abstract artworks and wooden floors.

Esher
Lineker and his former wife Danielle Bux bought a six bedroom and five bathroom house just outside of Esher, Surrey, around the time of their 2009 wedding. They reportedly paid around £2.6 million for the home.
Neighbours said that the couple installed a huge gym that spanned the whole of the 800sq ft top floor of the three-storey property.
“Esher seemed to fit the bill perfectly. We just stumbled upon it and fell in love immediately. It’s a stunning part of not just the UK, but the world – gorgeous, lush countryside and picturesque little towns and villages with character all of their own that you don’t find anywhere else,” the BBC presenter told Surrey Live in 2011.
Located just 14 miles south of Charing Cross, Esher is a quaint town with plenty of trendy restaurants and large family homes. Wealthy buyers are drawn to the area’s good schools, greenery and train links to London. The town was famously home to Beatles’ guitarist George Harrison, who recorded music there. Other famous residents to have called Esher home include Frank Lampard and Chris Tarrant.

Lineker reportedly welcomed Rasheed Baluch, a law student and refugee from the Balochistan region between Pakistan and Iran, to live with him in his Surrey home in 2020. Baluch hailed Lineker as a “caring and loving defender of humanity.”
"I have met scores of young refugees through football schemes and they are genuinely lovely kids and they appreciate any help they can get,” Lineker said.
"My kids are all grown up so I've got plenty of room so if I can help on a temporary basis then I'm more than happy to do so. Why not?"
Coulsdon bungalow
Lineker is a director of GCGL Properties Limited. The building development company purchased a bungalow for a reported £630,000 in Coulsdon, south London, in 2023.
Cheam village
On 2 May 2025, Lineker spent £1 million on a 6,700 square foot plot of land in Cheam village, with planning permission to build eight apartments and a selection of one-, two- and three-bedroom properties, according to The Mirror.
