Inside Gary Barlow's family life - 'mini me' son, 22 years wed and stillborn tragedy

Gary Barlow is many things to many people whether that be global music icon, pal to the stars or fiercely loyal family man.

And although he's been in the spotlight since he shot to fame as one fifth of of boy band Take That, he's seemingly separated his personal life from his on-stage persona.

But after three decades as one of the best in the business his loyal fans - many who have have grown up alongside the talented crooner - have enjoyed a glimpse into his inner circle.

Gary, whose hits include A Million Love Songs, Forever Love and Rule The World, enjoys a lavish home life with a string of properties befitting a multimillionaire music maestro.

His London home is rumoured to be worth a huge £18million where he lives with his wife Dawn and children.

He also boasts a Grade II-listed house in West Oxfordshire and beach house Stateside.

So as he's celebrated his 51st birthday this week we've taken a deep-dive into the singer-songwriter's happy home life.

Gary and Dawn hooked up after she joined the Take That Nobody Else Tour in 1995 as a dancer, but they actually crossed paths some years earlier in 1988.

The duo made their first public appearance as a couple at the 1996 BRIT Awards and later tied the knot on January 12 in 2002.

They have proved to be the perfect match and remained loyally committed - a tricky task especially in the public spotlight.

This year marks their 22nd anniversary and to mark the milestone Gary shared a post on Instagram to his beautiful wife.

He wrote: "Happy 22nd wedding anniversary Mrs B. Well what a time we've had. So many adventures. Four beautiful children. Here's to the next 22 and beyond. Check out the pics of the day we first met - 1988! Shocking!"

Fans of the Let Me Go singer couldn't help but comment on the uncanny resemblance between Gary and his son Daniel.

The 'mini me' has even been compared to sharing the same look as when his hit-maker father Gary first rose to fame with Take That.

Although it's unclear what Daniel is up to in his life, it was only in August 2021 that his family celebrated his 21st birthday with a family bash.

Doting dad

Gary is dad to two daughters, Emily, 19, and the youngest Daisy, 13.

The star will often share posts on his Instagram story and snaps regularly occur on the girls' birthdays.

His youngest, Daisy, is still based at home, while the older daughter, Emily, has flown the nest for four years at university, which Gary penned about on Instagram.

He wrote: "Just home from a lovely break. We said goodbye to our Emily who goes off to uni for four years! [crying face emoji], but we all had fun. Relaxed and now ready for another crazy year!"

Personal loss

Gary and his wife Dawn have shared the highs of life together but it was with great sadness that they announced their deeply personal tragedy of the stillbirth of their daughter Poppy on August 4, 2012.

After her death, Gary didn't talk about it publicly for some time, but in his autobiography in 2018, he wrote: "When she was born it was like a light came into the room.

"It was lovely, it was gorgeous, we both took turns cuddling her, and we took pictures. It was one of the best hours of my life I've ever experienced in the midst of the hardest time of my life. It was very powerful, that hour was."

Gary shared a poignant photo of himself and Dawn on the anniversary of Poppy's death which saw the pair looking out towards the sea.
