Inside Frogmore Cottage as Meghan and Harry's friend shares look around UK home

Royal fans got a peek into the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's UK home as the couple celebrated daughter Lilibet's first birthday.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle named the tot after the Queen, whose childhood nickname was Lilibet, as they celebrated her first birthday with a party in the garden of their Windsor property.

The party was a low-key affair took place during the bank holiday weekend for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and some sweet photos from the picnic have given fans a glimpse into the cottage.

The lovely snaps were taken by their close friend and photographer Misan Harriman, who was also the photographer for Harry and Meghan's pregnancy announcement with Lilibet in February 2021.

Frogmore was converted into one home in 2019, having previously been five separate properties for staff working on the Windsor Estate, writes the Mirror.

The whole renovation cost the Sovereign Grant £2.4million and the property is thought to have five bedrooms, a kitchen, a sitting room and a nursery first designed for Archie.

Redesign

The few photos we have showing the inside of the mansion don't look that different to Harry and Meghan's £11million mansion in Montecito, California - which is hardly a surprise.

A new photo from the party last weekend shows a framed piece of art - potentially by Matisse given it looks like a cut-out - and a flowered rug.

The photo features Lilibet and Meghan, alongside Harriman's wife, Camilla Holmstroem, and their two daughters.

In it, Meghan and Camilla beam at the camera - with Meghan wearing a long-sleeved top tucked into a pair of wide-leg, pinstriped pants, while the younger children sport lion face paint.

Modern neutral interior

Previously Eugenie showed a clip of the kitchen - which looked fairly traditional but with a modern twist.

The living room was also very neutral, with a tonal palette, white sofa and off-white walls. A sweet photo of Jack cradling his son revealed a room with beige walls and white doors.

Eugenie has also been pictured sitting on a cream sofa with red and green cushions in front of a blue painted bookshelf.

Frogmore Cottage is only a short drive away from the Queen's private apartments at Windsor Castle.

It is understood the relaxed event included all the usual features of a one-year-old's birthday - such as birthday cake, balloons, party face painting and games.

The sweet photograph shows the red-haired toddler beaming as she sits on the lawn in a powder-blue dress - with fans gushing over her similarity to her dad.

She clearly has inherited her father's red hair, has blue eyes and her smile shows that she has at least six baby teeth.

Renovation

The dormitory-style building was transformed during the renovation, with two orangeries added, and windows, chimneys, staircases replaced, and some high-tech upgrades around the house.

At the time, a royal source told Daily Mail: "Natural light is important for the Sussexes as Meghan misses the LA sunshine."

Meghan and Harry are also believed to be using vegan, chemical paint from Auro which costs £74 for a five-litre tin.

Extra costs included installing a 'floating floor' in the kitchen where timbers were laid over the old floor which builders weren't allowed to remove.

The kitchen is said to be state-of-the-art and with top notch appliances so the price tag could end up being £100,000.
