Inside former Liverpool player's eerie mansion abandoned after devastating fire

Footage from inside the charred remains of former Premier League player Jermaine Pennant 's abandoned mansion has been shared online.

Urban explorer Daniel Sims - also known as BeardedReality on Instagram and YouTube - uploaded a video online showing his visit to the mock Tudor property in the village of Hale in Cheshire.

The house, where ex Liverpool Pennant once lived, was recently hit by two fires, both in the space of a month.

Firefighters tackled a blaze at the mansion on October 10 and then again on November 1, Liverpool Echo reports.

The first fire was treated as deliberate, according to Cheshire Constabulary, with detective constable Rich Gray, of Widnes CID, saying at the time they were aware the address has "attracted a lot of attention".

Having heard about the abandoned property, Daniel visited with a friend last month. The urban explorer said the property was "pretty lovely, even though it has been set on fire."

He added: "One of the great things is that there was a pool at the back, and you have low flying planes. This is something I was trying to capture on my video.

"These planes were flying low, so you can just imagine if you were Mr Pennant himself, coming out into a backyard and getting in your pools with the planes flying over.

"The place is quite big as well, quite spacious. I would have liked to have seen that man cave in full swing."

It is understood Pennant, who played for Liverpool FC between 2006 and 2009, bought the mansion for just over £1m in 2006.

The property has been empty since 2020 when the ex-footballer, who also played for Arsenal, Birmingham, Stoke and Wolves, amongst others, split from model Alice Goodwin.

It had been the subject of a drugs warrant carried out earlier this year where they discovered a cannabis farm and seized multiple plants.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and released under investigation before being transferred to West Midlands Police.

Officers received further intelligence of a cannabis farm at the same property in September but no plants were found during their search.

Since retiring from football, Pennant has appeared on 2018 Celebrity Big Brother and dating show Celebs Go Dating. He has now signed up for the next series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Pennant, who helped the Stoke City reach the FA Cup final, split from former wife Alice, after nine years together and nearly six years married.
