Inside five-bed house 'frozen in time' - and it's taking people back to Edwardian era

This house might seem pretty ordinary from the outside, but step inside and you're transported back the early 1900s.

The five-bedroom Edwardian property, which has been listed for sale, has retained many of its original features - including a butler's pantry and scullery.

Among other ornate details are: cast iron fireplaces, stained glass windows and ultra detailed cornice and covings, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The semi-detached house in Merseyside wouldn't look out of place in period drama and perfect for those who want their homes to have a bit of history.

Called The Hollies, the property lies at the end of a long driveway and large front garden. It’s listed for sale with Brennan Ayre O’Neill for £625,000.

Homes in Prenton had an overall average price of £203,065 over the last 12 months, according to Rightmove’s sales information. Most of the sales in the area during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £212,363.

Terraced properties sold for an average of £145,300, with flats fetching £128,791. Overall, sold prices in Prenton over the last year were 10% down on the previous year and 13% up on the 2019 peak of £179,313.

Images of the property show the sheer period detail throughout the home is something to behold. Described as being one of the most "of it's time period homes" on the market, The Hollies opens to an oak panelled vestibule and a tiled hallway.

On the ground floor are four reception rooms; a cloakroom, a butler's pantry, a scullery and galley kitchen off the breakfast room. Each of these rooms are decorated with characterful furniture that wouldn't look out of place in a museum.

Both front living rooms have fireplaces and one had stained glass window work in the bay windows. A third reception room, at the back of the house has French doors that open to the back garden patio.

On the first floor there are four double bedrooms, as well as a 'box' room which offers one of two home office spaces. The second floor leads onto bedroom number five, and a space that could be used for another study area.

Architectural detail throughout includes an original Thomas Crapper toilet a freestanding pine draining board and bottle green glazed splash back wall tiles. There's also pitch pine and glass wall cabinets, wrought iron music quaver note design on the spindles of the stairs and a marble fireplace.

Outside the front of The Hollies is a driveway with enough space for multiple cars to be parked off the road. There's also a detached garage next to the main property.

The back garden is south facing and includes a large patio area and lawn. The lawn has a water feature and a second 'quiet' patio area at the bottom of the garden, close to a garden tool shed, green house and ornamental pond.

The Brennan Ayre O’Neill listing reads: "Consider foremost the suitability of the accommodation on offer within this Edwardian semi detached home together with the considerable amount of outdoor space rather than be distracted by all the extraordinary period architectural detail that lies within....if you can. For this is - has to be - one of the most ornately detailed, 'of -its -time', period homes we've had the pleasure of listing for sale."
