Inside Edinburgh's new 'secret' city centre gin garden - with cocktails, champagne and cheese boards

A long-established Edinburgh city centre has had an exciting new revamp - including the addition of a gin garden hidden in plain sight.

Established in 1990, Stac Polly on Dublin Street is one of Edinburgh's original Scottish fine dining restaurants.

The New Town venue offers a menu of exciting interpretations of modern and traditional Scottish cuisine and have now launched their brand new gin and wine bar, complete with garden.

The garden lies below the main street and serves up an extensive range of Scottish gins, wines, champagnes as well Edinburgh Beer Factory's Paolozzi on draft at the bar.

The basement level garden seats about 20 customers with social distancing measures in place. The stone walls are covered in flowers and gin bottles are on display as vases and the whole garden has a backing track of soft jazz - you'd be forgiven for thinking that you're not in Scotland.

Stac Polly's legendary cheese boards from George Mewes Cheese are also available al fresco.

The wee garden takes walk-ins, so simply turn up at 29-33 Dublin Street. Now that lockdown measures have eased you can also now head indoors to the revamped brasserie for nibbles and small bites.
