Inside EastEnders' Jessica Plummer's intimate birthday with loved ones and cake

Jessica Plummer celebrated her 28th birthday by gathering her friends and family for an intimate get-together around a delicious chocolate cake.

The EastEnders star thanked fans for their countless birthday wishes on social media, as she took to Instagram to update fans on what she got up to while celebrating.

The singer-turned-actress shared a sweet clip of her blowing out the candles with her four-year-old daughter Noa perched up on her lap.

Jess was beaming from ear-to-ear as her family sang happy birthday, after which she and her little girl made a wish.

Sharing the post with fans, the Neon Jungle star penned: "Thank you so much for all the birthday love. Chapter #28."

She added: "I'm carrying the same enthusiasm for this year ahead, as my sister has got (behind camera) singing me happy birthday," alongside a heart emoji.

Jess's birthday comes just weeks after announcing that she's leaving the hit BBC One soap.

The mum-of-one's character Chantelle Atkins will be killed off as the tragic domestic abuse storyline ends with her death at the hands of husband Gray (played by Toby-Alexander Stephens).

The family were introduced last year but it was always intended that the storyline would end tragically, the importance of which feels more resonant in light of the increase in domestic abuse as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

EastEnders' executive producer Jon Sen said of Chantelle's exit: "Jessica’s performance is nothing short of extraordinary and even in her final scenes, the audience will be moved by Chantelle’s strength.

"We’re very sorry so see Jessica go but hope that her impact on viewers is long-lasting."
