Inside David Beckham's £20,000-a-night Qatar hotel suite that he was forced out of by fan discovery

Former England star David Beckham has been forced out of his luxury Qatar hotel after fans learned where he was staying.

The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder, who is working at the World Cup as a tournament ambassador, was staying at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Doha but checked out early when his location became common knowledge among football fans.

The five-star hotel is located in the city's exclusive Mesheirb district, with Beckham's £20,000-a-night suite boasting its own dining area, private concierge, open air courtyard and private pool and gym.

It is unknown whether the footballer returned to the UK after checking out of the hotel at the weekend or simply moved to another location in Qatar, with the Three Lions facing Senegal on Saturday in the round of 16. Beckham has reportedly tried to stay under the radar while in Qatar, entering the hotel through a private entrance and travelling around Doha in a limousine with blacked-out windows.

While at the hotel, the England legend, who is also president and co-owner of MLS side Inter Miami CF, was referred to as 'Sir David' by adoring staff.

"The staff have loved having him here and referred to him as 'Sir David' because he was so respectful and respected back by everyone," a hotel source told the Daily Mail. "He wasn't seen much at all by the other guests because he had a lovely suite which is like a hotel within a hotel, meaning he didn't need to mix with them.

"He's been very polite and charming to the staff and seems like a very decent man. Sir David is one of the most famous men in world football and it's been an honour having him here. It's a pity he's no longer here but I'm sure he'll be back. Who wouldn't love staying here?"

Beckham, 47, has come in for severe criticism for associating himself so closely with the Qatar World Cup given the country's major human rights violations, its mistreatment of migrant workers who have made the staging of the tournament possible, and its stance on the LGBT+ community, with homosexuality being illegal in the country.

The luxury hotel, which was given a Forbes five-star rating earlier this year, is also kitted out with two rooftop pools, a spa and a host of stylish restaurants.

However, it is nothing compared to where the wives and girlfriends of the current England squad are staying during the tournament in Qatar. The partners of Harry Kane and Co. are among the 7,000 passengers on board the new £1billion cruise liner MSC World Europa, docked just off the coast of Doha.

As well as luxurious rooms, there are a staggering 33 on-board restaurants and bars for guests to dine in, with food served around the clock, as well as its own microbrewery, two-storey mall, huge sports complex and a 1,150 seat 5D cinema where guests can watch films or even World Cup games.

If that's not enough, there are also six swimming pools, 14 ocean-view whirlpools and a roller disco, as well as regular musical performances and DJ pool parties in the evenings, while passengers can try out the 75-metre, 11-deck helter skelter called The Venom Drop which takes riders all the way from the top of the ship, past other guests' balconies and onto a huge promenade.
