Inside couple's £15,000 home that used to be a double decker bus

A couple have transformed a dreary double-decker bus into their dream home.

The couple's fantasy home used to be a London bus - but it was renovated on a budget of just £15,000.

Charlie MacVicar, 26, and Luke Walker, 27, from Essex, didn't fancy renovating an old property to live in, so they chose instead something a bit different and a lot cheaper.

The pair grafted to transform the drab interior of a red double decker bus into a luxury home.

Charlie told MyLondon : "Me and my partner wanted to live together but we didn't want to be tied down to a huge mortgage or pay huge amounts in rent.

"We love to travel and wanted a hub that we could return home to and then leave again and have a lot of flexibility.

"We loved the TV show 'George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces' and we were inspired by some of their builds.

"We went back and forth over a shipping container to a caravan and finally settled for a double decker bus."

The couple bought the bus in 2017 from Go Ahead London for £2,500 and spent £15,000 renovating it- much cheaper than the average London flat.

Incredible photos show the home's chic interior, complete with modern furnishings and a rustic bath.

The property even has a log burning fire for cosy nights in.

Charlie said: "We love living in the bus, it’s the best thing we have ever done.

"It has so many perks, from the outdoor space to living together without the ties of a big mortgage or rent.

"We love the fact it’s open plan and there is so much natural light. Being able to have a bath and look out onto the pond watching the ducks is so peaceful."

With the recent cold weather, Charlie said keeping heat in the bus was challenging with all of the windows but they had installed a heater and have a log burner downstairs.

Now, the place is a cosy sanctuary and all for a fraction of the price that a flat in London would typically cost.
