Inside Coronation Street’s Alexandra Mardell’s leaving do with her ITV co-stars

Corrie star Alexandra Mardell celebrated leaving the cobbled street in style over the weekend.

The star, 28, plays barmaid Emma Brooker on the ITV show, and although she will remain on screen until April, the award-winning actress has already filmed her final scenes for the long-running soap.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Alexandra shared a series of snaps of her bidding farewell to her Coronation Street family - with co-stars past and present posing alongside her during their night out in Manchester.

"Face ache from smiling and hardly any photos are a sign of a fab night! Can we do it again?" Alexandra captioned the pictures to her 125,000 followers.

"Huge hugs to everyone who came to say ta-ra for now! Had the best night with you all! Big big love."

For her big night out, stylish Alexandra turned heads in a trendy pink mini dress - completing her look with gold hoop earrings, an eye-catching tartan bag and black heels with stars decorated across them.

In the glitzy images, the departing soap star beams alongside her actor boyfriend Joe Parker, and plenty of her ITV colleagues - including I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! runner-up Simon Gregson, Millie Gibson, Colson Smith, and Georgia Taylor.

Former Corrie star Katie McGlynn also joined her former co-stars for the farewell bash.

Underneath Alexandra's Instagram update over the weekend, some of the party-goers commented on the snaps from the night out together.

"The Yorkshire takeover fades," Yorkshire lad Colson Smith told his Leeds-born pal.

Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby on the ITV soap, gushed: "We [love-heart emoji] you Ali!! Xxx".

Millie Gibson declared the evening "the best night", while Daisy Midgeley actress Charlotte Jordan pleaded with her pal: "Don’t goooooo".

Corrie bosses have previously revealed the door has been left open for Alexandra to return to the soap again one day in the future.

Chatting about her decision to walk away from the ITV show, Alexandra confessed her stint on the soap had been "the best experience" of her life.

"Playing Emma, on the most iconic street there is, has been the best experience of my life," she previously admitted.

"Four years have gone so fast. Compared to other cast members I still feel like a newbie, which makes my decision to leave all the more difficult.

"But I feel it’s the right time for me."

She added: "I can’t thank everyone at Coronation Street enough for welcoming me and trusting me to tell so many wonderful and heartfelt stories.

"And for the friendships."

Earlier this week, Alexandra revealed she "ugly cried" after filming her final scenes on the ITV soap.

She wrote on Instagram : "And that’s a wrap on the best street there is! And of course I ugly cried as soon as the scene completed. So overwhelmed by all the love. The Corrie family are just insane.

"To every person in that building, every viewer, family member and friend, I love you all and can’t thank you enough! I’ve said it countless times before but I’ll say it again, it’s been the best time of my life."

She added: "But for now it’s goodbye to the cobbles from me and Emma Brooker."

Alexandra has also revealed how she got to keep a souvenir from the set of the soap - one of her character's motivational mugs.

The actress shared a snap of a 'boss babe' mug, along with a handwritten note from the Coronation Street art department team.

Although details of Emma’s departure from Weatherfield have not been announced yet, it appears that her character could be in store for a possible romantic twist that could hasten her exit from the soap.

Soap producer Iain MacLeod has previously hinted that her exit could be connected to Ted's death.

Speaking in the past, he said: "Emma has found herself in a massive pickle – one which will cause her to wave goodbye to the cobbles. At least for now."
