Inside Cardiff City star Aron Gunnarsson's beer spa, where people literally bathe in beer

Aron Gunnarsson may be a total warrior on the pitch, but it's clear he enjoys the odd tipple too.

So much so, he's even been known to bathe in the stuff back in Iceland.

Yes, really.

Beer was banned on the tiny island nation until as recently as 1989 but, with a little help from the Cardiff City star, those who are partial to a pint can now enjoy a unique drinking experience.

Cardiff City loanee Oumar Niasse keen to quit Everton and has already chosen where to go - reports

Gunnarsson co-owns the Bjorbodin Spa in the northern Icelandic village of Arskogssandur, a place where visitors can enjoy a drop of the local brew and a nice relaxing soak - in a bathtub full of beer.

Situated next door to the Bruggsmidjan Kaldi, Iceland’s first microbrewery, the luxury resort has proved a huge hit with visitors and, judging by the pictures, with Gunnarsson too.

The Iceland captain first got involved by purchasing a 10 per cent stake in the company back in 2017, and has seen it grow from strength to strength ever since.

The big draw is the 25-minute soak in a bathtub filled with local beer, with many tubs able to fit two people for what some tour guides have described "beer-loving couples".

Bathing in beer might seem a little strange to some, but those in the know claim it has significant health benefits.

The positive Cardiff City transfer scenario and the players they could target this summer

The yeast in the beer is believed to boost energy, support the immune system and benefit skin, hair and nail health.

It's believed to be so beneficial for the skin that the spa itself recommends visitors don't shower for at least four hours after treatment, in order to give it a chance to nourish, replenish and rejuvenate.

Oh, and did we mention that you can enjoy as many pints of the stuff as you like in the mean time? From the tap obviously.

There's even a dark room for spa-goers who may have overdone things a little.

If the pictures are anything to go by, Gunnarsson is clearly a fan of it all, although he may well see his visits limited next season.

The 30-year old is t o join Qatari side Al Arabi in the summer after his current deal in the Welsh capital expires.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock reveals he has already found a replacement for Aron Gunnarsson
