Inside Britain's messiest bedrooms strewn with old takeaways and dirty clothes

Bedrooms are for many a sanctuary. A zen oasis of calm, comfort and tranquility, where we can unwind and de-stress after a hard day.

Then there are these pigsties.

Bed and mattress specialist, Bed SoS, searched the country for the messiest bedroom via a photo competition, and has revealed the 10 most untidy rooms.

Anna Wrigley, from Kendal in Cumbria, was crowned the competition winner after sharing her carnage of a room, featuring a half-eaten takeaway from the night before, Cornwall Live reports.

Having been crowned the winner of the competition, Anna will receive a brand new bed of her choice from Bed SoS.

Here are the 10 voted the worst:

Anna captioned this “The day after the night before” which, from the looks of it, was a pretty big night.

Sam Thomas is considering moving out after her boyfriend promised a romantic boudoir if she moved in…

We spy with our little eye… Christmas decorations?! Melek Gil’s room has become less of a bedroom and more of a storage space.

Philip Burch says he struggles to walk around his bed. We’re not surprised… seeing as there’s not much floor to walk on.

Haleema Khanum has called this a daily struggle, but then again, you never know when you’ll need a sombrero!

Emma Fox’s room is serving a dual purpose; bedroom and launderette. Also, are those care bears?

Sophie has shared a picture of her daughter’s messy room. Looks like someone has been having too much fun with their toys!

Samantha Oakley promises that under all that stuff is a bed…

Danny Richmond, Managing Director of Bed SOS, said: “These pictures prove that we can sometimes let life get on top of us.

"Although it may seem like a chore, a tidy bedroom and a comfy bed, free of clutter, can have a huge impact on the quality of our sleep.

“Hopefully, these pictures inspire you to give your bedroom a tidy, to ensure you get a good night’s rest.”

Jenny couldn’t help but post this picture of her daughter’s bedroom, worryingly this is it at its best!
