Inside brand new Sherwood café looking to sell alcohol and put on entertainment

Residents have welcomed plans for a new Nottingham café which hopes to serve alcohol and put on live entertainment.

CGI images reveal what a brand new café in Sherwood will look like inside.

The new café, which will be called Bronte & Co on 589 Mansfield Road, is due to open its doors for business in the first week of December after being fitted on Saturday (November 27).

It will include an outside area with a large roof that can be open and closed depending on the weather.

Zip Bakery, the company running the café, has a licence to sell bread, cakes, confectionary and beverages in an unlicensed café.

But an application to change parts of its licence has been submitted, including selling alcohol between 10am and 11pm every day, live entertainment and late night refreshment indoors and outdoors.

The café used to be an old amusement arcade and stood dormant for almost a decade.

When asked about a new café that wants to sell alcohol, shoppers and locals welcomed the addition to the high street.

Sue Sipple, 66, who lives in Sherwood, said: "It will help to attract more people into the area.

"There are a lot of cafes around and there is a dilemma of this maybe taking away business from others, but it's nice that businesses are thriving and you really do have everything here on your doorstep in Sherwood."

A 57-year-old shopper from Mapperley Park, who did not wish to be named, said: "I don't have a problem with it at all, one more shop like this will not make a huge difference.

"My curiosity means I will have to try it in there when it opens."

Susan McCartney Martin, 61, from Sneinton, said: "It's a good idea as people come around here for something to eat."

Turkish-based company STC Construction has partnered with Zip Bakery to redevelop the shop.
