Inside Bolton's 'most expensive' house which boasts a stunning lake in the garden

Luxury Lostock home 'The Lake House' is the most expensive house sold in Bolton in the last two months.

The house, which was formerly owned by an inventor changed hands for £935,000 on March 10 - almost £150,000 lower than the guide price of £1,100,000.

As the name suggests, the house boasts beautiful lake in the garden, which is home to an array of fish.

Built in 2010 in the garden of a traditional 1870s home, the former owner built a model railway inside the property.

The model railway no longer stands but the detached house is still stunning inside and out.

Upstairs is home to four bedrooms with the potential for a fifth, while downstairs is an exciting leisure and entertainment complex.

There is a games room, with a full-size snooker table and a room destined to be a home cinema.

A home gymnasium has also been under construction, with a hot tub and changing cubicle already in place.

In Bolton, there was a total of 22 sales registered for March, a 69pc fall compared to 72 sales registered at the same point for February.

The most expensive of those is the Lake House.

The drop is likely to be a combination of the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on both house sales and on the registration of sales.

The Government issued guidance on March 26 advising people to delay house moves if at all possible during the lockdown period, meaning that some sales that were due to complete in March will not have gone ahead.

The Land Registry has also warned its services are likely to be disrupted due to the pandemic, particularly the process of registering a new sale, which likely means a longer delay between the house sale completing and the record being updated at the Land Registry.

No sales after March 23 have so far been registered in England and Wales, and just one on that day, probably a combination of a drop in house moves after lockdown and registrations taking longer.

Here are the top five most expensive house sales in Bolton in March:

  1. 15 Sudbury Drive, Lostock - sold for £935,000 on March 10

  2. 36 Higher Dunscar, Egerton - sold for £415,000 on March 2
