Inside Ange Postecoglou's mansion as Celtic boss puts luxury £1.6m Melbourne home on the market

Ange Postecoglou is selling his stunning Melbourne home after it appeared on the property market Down Under for around £1.6million.

The Greek-Australian has laid down roots in Scotland since his appointment as Celtic boss two years ago and is so settled that he’s taken the decision to flog the stunnning pad he and wife Georgia bought in Melbourne in 2016 which is advertised on an real estate agency website.

It says “Celtic manager and former Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou has placed his luxe Toorak mansion with Paul Bangay gardens on the market with a $3m-$3.3m price tag. The glamorous Tuscan villa-style dwelling is located in Toorak’s award-winning Villaggio development and boasts established gardens by renowned landscape designer Paul Bangay. Inside and past the intricate covered gallery at the facade, the home features elegant European interiors including vaulted ceilings and oak parquetry flooring, plus an open sandstone fireplace and pillars adding to its grandeur.”

Postecoglou joked about building a “beautiful house” in his early days at Celtic. It came as speculation intensified over his former rival Steven Gerrard leaving Rangers. Refusing to comment on the talk at the time of Gerrard going to Aston Villa, he said: “We've got to build our house, make sure it's nice and beautiful then see how it stacks up to the rest of the neighbourhood."

And the 57-year-old has certainly made a good job of laying down the foundations at Parkhead after picking up four out of five available domestic trophies so far and he could add a fifth in next month’s Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caley Thistle at Hampden.

Partner at estate agent Kay & Burton who are selling the home, Darren Lewenberg, said of the thee-bedroom home: “As it’s a large development it’s impeccably built, every wall you touch and everything in the house is exemplary. It’s also low maintenance and in a location that provides access to Chapel St and Toorak Village.”

Celebrity Celtic fan Rod Stewart recently said he would make a pilgrimage to Postecoglou’s home during the rocker’s tour Down Under. He said during a radio interview: "You must take me to see Ange's house. That would be lovely and I'll send him some pictures. We must arrange that.”
