Inside an “Incredible” €16.5 million Ibiza seafront mansion in cove favoured by Lionel Messi

Villa Solstice, a modern six-bedroom house in sun-soaked Ibiza is on the market for €16.5 million (£14 million).

It’s perched above the sea in Cala Tarida, the same beach town where footballer Lionel Messi reportedly bought his £9.5 million mansion in 2022.

Designed by Belgian architecture studio Bruno Erpicum, Villa Solstice comes with covetable direct sea access.

The angular house has floor-to-ceiling glass and is positioned to make the most of the golden sunsets that Ibiza is renowned for.

Cala Tarida, on the western side of the island, is famed for its beach in a sheltered bay and views of the sun setting over the sea.

A heated infinity pool faces the waves, and there are multiple terraces, a sunken lounge area around a firepit, and a jacuzzi to choose from for relaxing.

There’s also a glass-walled gym studio in the garden, offering a workout with a view.

“Villa Solstice is perfect for stylish, boho elegance-seeking buyers who are looking for expansive views, ample entertaining space with fine finishings and unfettered access to the sea,” said Charlie Hill, co-founder of estate agents Charles Marlow.

“I can see the villa appealing to those looking for the very best lifestyle that Ibiza has to offer.”

Ibiza is beloved by a wide range of celebrities who flock there for both its nightlife and tranquil yoga retreats.

Messi also owns a hotel on the island while Jade Jagger, a longtime Ibiza aficionado, has renovated a historic finca in the hills of northern Ibiza.

Even Mary Berry has been known to tear up the dancefloor at the Pacha nightclub.

Villa Solstice has its own claim to fame, having recently starred in the series finale of the second season of Muchos Alfa (Alpha Males), a popular Spanish comedy series airing on Netflix

The home’s interiors have recently been revamped in a major refurbishment project undertaken by Go+, an Ibiza-based interiors and architecture studio. They selected warm toned wood and limestone, while cladding the indoor fireplace in stone.

Lofty four-metre-high ceilings in the living area allow for sweeping views over the coastline.

The principal bedroom has its own dressing room, private lounge and a soaking tub overlooking the Mediterranean.

Potential buyers may have to sharpen their elbows, however.

“Villa Solstice is one of the most incredible frontline villas to come to the market in Ibiza for many years,” says Hill.
