Inside abandoned bungalow linked to teen's unsolved murder with axe sitting on shelf

An urban explorer has documented the disheveled insides of a deserted 1950s bungalow near Cheshire.

Daniel Sims goes by the name of BeardedReality, and visits abandoned locations nationwide, sharing his discoveries via YouTube.

Hailing from Huddersfield, he claims the bungalow in Poulton is connected to the unsolved murder of teenager Brenda Evans in 1977.

He believes the house was home to 17-year-old Evans' relatives, and was the last place she was seen alive.

Daniel, 33, began filming his adventures and posting them to YouTube in February 2019.

He has been featured in over 100 articles due to his exploits.

Speaking to CheshireLive about the bungalow, he said: "The place itself has been abandoned for about ten or fifteen years I reckon.

"I can’t remember whether I just randomly discovered that one or if other explorers tipped me off. There were a bunch of tools, a big axe and a hammer.

"There was the piano, too, a Rushworth, I don’t think I’ve seen a Rushworth before. There were a lot of little treasures around the living room.

"The piano keys were on the couch. When we first entered we had to squeeze over the cabinets just to get into the property. It was a very strange layout, like someone, once upon a time, had started clearing it out and then just left it."

Daniel calls his hobby "highly fun and very addicting".

When asked if he ever gets in trouble for what he does, he said: "Not really. I stick within the guidelines of the law – and what I do is kind of a grey area anyway – but we’re not breaking the law.

"It is civil trespass, but there’s the key, it’s civil. If I was on a property and someone asked me to leave, and I refused, then that would be criminal because it’s aggravated trespass."

He added: "We don’t break into anywhere. There are some people that do that, but as people can see on mine, for example, I’ll even post places that I don’t get into because I just enjoy being around the buildings and exploring, seeing what’s there."

Daniel now plans to explore further afield: "We’re planning [to explore in] France, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, maybe Ukraine possibly."
