Inside abandoned 19th century farmhouse known as 'the place time has stood still'

An abandoned farmhouse which dates back more than 130 years is so eerie it has become known as "the house where time stood still".

Pittfield Farm, located in the small town of Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, has not been lived in for five years but family possessions and belongings from several eras lay forgotten and strewn about the place.

The whole living room remains intact and boasts an old style TV.

Plates have been left on the kitchen table while an old car has been left decaying in the garage, LancsLive reports.

Urban Explorer Kyle Urbex, from Leeds, along with fellow explorer Hayley Mase, once paid a visit to the untouched property.

He said: "We drove up to the farm and were disturbed by what appeared to be an old farmer shouting upstairs.

"We heard, 'Hello get out of my house, the police have been called!' It later turned out to be two fellow explorers just having a laugh.

"We were amazed when exploring this fairly untouched property. Some of the discoveries were fantastic such as as a whole living room intact including old style TV. Plates had been left on the kitchen table not to mention the old car left decaying in the garage."

Kyle said the property appeared to be a very normal, functioning, family home.

Kyle added: "Venturing round this untouched time warp uncovering many hidden gems was certainly one of my favourites.

"There were gems in every room."

The site, known as Pittfield Farm, dates back to the 1880s and was constructed by a roadsman by the name of Thomas Thornton from neighbouring parish Singleton.

His daughter, Mary Thornton, married a local railway man by the name of Thomas Henry Crane at St Anne's Church which was witnessed by their friends, the Cookson family, who lived locally to the farm.

Thomas and Mary had one daughter, also named Mary, who would later marry another Thomas, called Thomas Cowell.

The farm ran successfully and bred Clydesdale horses for local shows in 2013 up until Thomas passed away.

The site was functioning up until 2016 when Mary passed away and the property has been this way ever since.

It is understood that two family members have joint ownership of the house, but are at odds over what to do with it,LancsLive reports.

According to PWC Surveyors, the site was put on the market for £800,000, and it has been sold subject to contract.

The site description says: "The opportunity to acquire a detached farmhouse of brick under slate construction and a range of traditionally constructed farm buildings all set in circa 14 acres of agricultural land and contained within a ring fence.

The property is currently vacant and in a dilapidated and semi-derelict condition.

"Pitfield Farm offers the opportunity to residential, equestrian and potentially developer purchasers to acquire a blank canvas of a property to make of as they desire. The property has been secured and access is not possible other than by appointment. The sole selling agents will be in attendance on the property for open viewings on the following dates and time."
