Inseparable dogs 'may have to be split up' after owner suffers stroke

Two dogs said to be "inseparable" may have to be split up if they're to find a new home.

Labrador cross Alice and German Pointer cross Daisy are currently in Freshfields animal rescue after their owner suffered a stroke.

The loveable dogs have lived happily together since Alice was a puppy and Daisy was two.

The animal charity said the best friends may need to rehomed separately to ensure they find new homes now that their owner can no longer look after them.

Vikki Ferguson, a kennels worker at Freshfields, said: "Everyone here at Freshfields has fallen in love with these two adorable dogs.

"We can see how much they love each other, and we desperately want to find them a home where they can snuggle up together, just like they did in their previous home.

"Alice and Daisy are not adjusting to life in Kennels, as you might expect, after spending many years as beloved family pets in a loving home.

"Although we know it might be devastating for them, we are having to consider taking the heart-breaking step of having to split them up in order to find them a home."

The charity said Daisy, although almost 10 years old, is an active dog and as playful and affectionate as a puppy.

She can be very strong on her walks and loves to play with a ball.

Alice is eight years old and loves children but doesn’t like loud noises out on her walks.

She is described as a very friendly and affectionate girl who enjoys life and loves a big fuss and attention. She is also never happier than when she’s playing with her partner-in-crime Daisy.

Freshfields said this is their last chance to find a home together as cherished family pets living their best lives.

They have asked anyone who would consider giving Alice and Daisy a chance to be rehomed together to call them on 0151 931 1604 or contact kennels@freshfields.org.uk
