Inquiry launched after discovery of potentially human bones on cliff face

Investigations are continuing to assess whether bones discovered on the side of a cliff in Weston-super-Mare are human.

Police were called by a member of the public after the bones were found on the cliff near the Kewstoke Toll Road on Saturday evening (May 9).

The road was closed in both directions while officers worked to recover the remains.

Work is continuing to assess whether the bones are human in origin.

A police spokesman told Somerset Live:”On the evening of Saturday, May 9 we were made aware of some bones being found on the cliff side near Kewstoke Road in Weston-super-Mare.

"It is not confirmed at this time whether the bones are human in origin.”
