Inquest to be held into death of baby at Prince Charles Hospital under Cwm Taf maternity care

An inquest is set to be held into the death of a baby born at Prince Charles Hospital 16 hours after his mum was induced by staff at the hospital.

Jenson Gillard, was delivered by emergency caesarean but was pronounced dead just 40 minutes later.

Tiffany, 21, and her partner James, 22 were expecting their first child.

Following his death, Jenson’s mum Tiffany instructed expert medical negligence lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to investigate the care she and her son received under Cwm Taf University Health Board, which runs the hospital.

Tiffany said: “It is almost impossible to describe the pain all of us feel over Jenson’s death.

"All I can hope for now is that the inquest process can at least provide me with answers to the questions I have about what happened during my labour.”

Richard Sweetman, specialist medical negligence lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, said: “Jenson’s death has had a profound effect on Tiffany and all the family who are all still struggling to come to terms with what has happened.

“They have a number of questions about the care Tiffany and Jenson received after they were admitted to hospital and hope that the inquest process will provide them with the vital answers they deserve.”

An inquest is due to take place at Pontypridd Coroner's Court on May, 14.

Cwm Taf health board weren't able to comment at this stage but said they will after the inquest.
