Inquest takes place into death of young mum found dead on Swansea beach

A woman was found dead on a beach in Swansea by people out walking early in the morning.

The body of Emma Louise Williams was discovered on Swansea Bay, just off Oystermouth Road near the Tudor Court Hotel, on April 13, last year.

Following the discovery, South Wales Police said Ms Williams' death was not being treated as suspicious.

An inquest into the death of the 29-year-old, of Eaton Crescent in Uplands, but originally from Brecon, was held at Swansea's Guildhall, and told the mother-of-one had previously represented Wales at street football.

Acting senior coroner for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Colin Phillips said a post mortem had revealed her death was consistent with drowning, but it was not possible to determine the role of alcohol and other drugs present in her system.

He added: "I am satisfied she carried out the act and there were no third parties involved and she entered the sea to end her life. My conclusion is a suicide conclusion".
