Inquest reveals woman, 72, died from sepsis following scratch from husband's guide dog

An inquest is to study the case of a woman who died after being scratched by her husband's guide dog.

Carol Parsons, 72, suffered organ failure caused by sepsis and died in the Queen's Medical Centre on February 26.

Brief details were given when her inquest was opened and adjourned by Assistant Nottinghamshire Coroner, Laurinda Bower.

She said that the pensioner was admitted to the hospital on February 17, "having been scratched by her husband's guide dog."

Beeston resident Mrs Parsons was treated but Miss Bower told the hearing at the Council House: "Sadly she died on February 26 after organ failure as a result of sepsis.

"This matter has been opened and the inquest will conclude on July 9," she added.

No relatives or expert witnesses were present at the brief hearing.
