An inquest has opened into the death of a man who was injured in a charity boxing match. Jubal Reji Kurian died aged 23 at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.
It was announced that the amateur boxer had been 'seriously injured' at a charity event on March 25 at Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Bilborough. He was taken to hospital and a few days later Nottinghamshire Police confirmed he had passed away.
A provisional cause of death has been given as traumatic brain injury. The hearing has been adjourned on a date to be fixed for the completion of other inquiries.

The inquest has been opened at Nottingham Council House in Old Market Square on Friday, June 16. He was identified by his dad, Mr Reji Kurian and mum Susan Reji Kurian at the hospital where he died on March 29 this year.
He was born on February 19, in 2000, the hearing was told. Opening the inquest, coroner Neena Sharma said that a post-mortem examination has been carried out.
Coroner Sharma has passed on her condolences to the family of Jubal Reji Kurian. Ultra White Collar Boxing, which organised the charity event, said it was "deeply saddened" by his death earlier this year.
“Everyone at Ultra White Collar Boxing was deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of one of our participants, who took part in our Nottingham event on Saturday, March 25," said a spokesperson. "Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are in close contact with his family and continue to offer them all the support we can. With investigations now under way by the relevant authorities, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
A Nottingham City Council spokesperson said: “We are deeply saddened to hear that he [Jubal] has since died in hospital and our thoughts are with his family and friends. We are liaising with relevant authorities to help them with their inquiries into this tragic incident.”
Detective Inspector Chris Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers attended Harvey Hadden Sports Village on Saturday, March 25 with partners including East Midlands Ambulance Service. A man was left seriously injured following a boxing match and transported to Queen’s Medical Centre.
“Since the incident, his condition deteriorated and he has sadly passed away. Our thoughts are with all of his family and friends at this difficult time.
"We are keeping an open mind and working with the coroner to establish what has happened.”
