Inquest opens into death of woman found dead after flat fire

An inquest has opened into the death of a woman found dead after a flat fire.

Louise Adam was found unresponsive at her home in Haydock Street, Bolton, on January 12.

An inquest into the 58-year-old's death opened at Bolton Coroner's Court today (Thursday, May 6).

Police coroner's officer Neil McCaffrey told the brief hearing that Ms Adam had 'complex mental health issues' and required regular support.

He added: "Gas engineers attended her property on January 12 to a report of the smell of gas.

"Smoke was also noticed coming from Louise's address.

"The fire brigade was called and forced entry.

"Louise was found unresponsive and not breathing."

Ms Adam was pronounced dead by paramedics at 7.40pm, the inquest heard.

A post-mortem examination gave her cause of death as 'combined zuclopenthixol and carbon monoxide toxicity'.

Coroner Alan Walsh formally opened the inquest this afternoon.

He adjourned the inquest until July 6 when a full hearing is set to take place.
