Inquest opens into tragic death of woman, 20, found in woods by dog walker

An inquest has opened into the death of a 20-year-old woman found dead in woods in County Durham.

Rio-Anne Katie Jane Dickinson, who lived in Ferryhill and worked as a pizza delivery driver, died on June 26 this year.

During a hearing held at Crook Civic Centre on Thursday, the inquest heard how Rio-Anne was found in woodlands near Waltons Concrete Works on June 26.

Her body was identified at Darlington Memorial Hospital by her father on June 26, the inquest was told.

Senior Coroner for County Durham and Darlington Jeremy Chipperfield adjourned the inquest and said he would await a report from the police.

The inquest was adjourned until October 20 at 10am to be heard at Crook.
