Inquest opens into death of 15-year-old girl

An inquest has been opened into the death of a 15-year-old girl.

Mr Gordon Clow, assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire opened the inquest on the morning on Tuesday May 4 at Nottingham Council House.

Holly Lucy Baddiley was born on January 9, 2005. She died on October 17 2020.

She was aged 15 at the time of her death.

Holly died at the Royal Derby Hospital and was identified by her father who was with her as she died, the court heard.

A postmortem examination was carried out and the provisional cause of death was recorded as "1a pulmonary embolism and 1b deep venous thrombosis and Hodgkin's disease."

The inquest was adjourned for the completion of further enquiries with a date to be fixed for a final hearing.

Mr Clow expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Holly.
