Inquest opens into charity worker found dead in hotel room

An inquest has opened into the death of a charity worker who was found dead in a hotel room. Martina Martin died aged 40 having previously been reported missing in November last year.

Nottinghamshire Police had launched an investigation after she was reported missing, and was last seen on November 16 2021 at 1.50pm leaving the Arc in Scunthorpe. She was later found dead in a hotel room on November 17 2021 at Travelodge Hull South Cave in Brough, East Yorkshire.

Assistant Coroner Gordon Clow opened an inquest into her death at Nottingham Council House in Old Market Square on Monday (March 21). Ms Martin was identified by her sister at the Queen's Medical Centre.

Mr Clow adjourned the inquest to be resumed on a date to be fixed. He concluded proceedings by expressing his sincere condolences and best wishes to Ms Martin's family and friends. The inquest continues.
