An inquest has opened into a woman who died in a three-car crash in Nottinghamshire. Yvonne Roberts, of Sheffield, died at the scene of the collision Budby Road, Cuckney, at around 10am on Saturday, April 16.

Assistant coroner Gordon Clow opened the inquest at Nottingham Council House on Monday, May 16. Ms Robert's son was in attendance virtually and was the one to identify his mum on the day of her death, said Mr Clow.

"The death took place in a road traffic collision. I have now opened the inquest," he added, before saying it would be adjourned until a date "yet to be fixed" due to waiting for the outcome of an ongoing police investigation.

Addressing Mr Barclay, Mr Clow said: "You do have my condolences for losing your mother in such a difficult way." Shortly after her death, Ms Roberts' family released a statement in tribute.

In it they described her as a "friend to so many". "Her death has left many people heartbroken and wondering how and why this tragic accident has happened. Her loss will be felt through time and her memory will resonate in the minds and hearts of those she touched," they said.

Detective Constable Liah Lane, of Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Yvonne's family at this extremely difficult time. Losing a loved one in such tragic circumstances is something we know has a huge impact on families and we are ensuring specialist officers continue to work with the family and offer them support.

"We continue to investigate the incident thoroughly and conduct inquiries, and we continue to ask for anyone with information to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 230 of April 16."
