Inquest opens after chef found dead on Welsh beach

A body found on a Llandudno beach earlier this month was that of chef Neil Crowther, an inquest heard today.

The 45-year-old was discovered near the Little Orme wearing only socks and shoes.

The chef of Curzon Road, Llandudno, was spotted by a woman walking her dogs just before 8.40am on December 9.

An inquest into his death was today opened at Ruthin County Hall, reports North Wales Live.

It heard that Mr Crowther was formally identified by his fingerprints after police launched an investigation to establish who he was.

Coroner for North Wales east and central, John Gittins, said Mr Crowther was found "laying face down in the sand".

He added: "It was clear that he had been in the water as would appear from some indication of seaweed in his hair.

"The impression being that he had been in the sea and had been washed up into the position he was found in."
