A report from Professor Groom at the hospital said that his medical cause of death was a severe traumatic brain injury.
Manchester Area Coroner Zak Golombeck provided an update from police - confirming that no criminal charges are currently being persued.
"I have also considered information provided by Greater Manchester Police in relation to the incident which led to his hospitalisation and his death and that information confirms that at this stage there will be no prosecutions with regards to the incident itself," Mr Golombeck said.
In opening the inquest into Mr Ditta, who 'very sadly died', the coroner confirmed his date of birth and his next of kin; his mother, Shaheen Akhtar.
Mr Golombeck said that the inquest will require a full report from Greater Manchester Police and a summary report from Mr Ditta's GP.
He expects the reports to be submitted to him by December 6.
"Then the file will be reviewed and further directions will be made," he said.
No date was set for an inquest.
