Inquest opened and adjourned into death of 19-year-old

A coroner expressed his sincere condolences to the family of a 19-year-old man as he opened and adjourned an inquest into his death.

Assistant coroner Gordon Clow gave some details about Kieran Andrew Pritchett-Gunn at a short hearing in The Council House in Old Market Square, where the Coroner's Service is based.

He gave Mr Pritchett-Gunn's date of birth, that he was aged 19 at the time, and died at an address in Needwood Avenue, Trowell.

He was identified by his grandfather, Robert Pritchett, who confirmed his grandson's identity to a police officer at the address.

Mr Clow said a post-mortem examination was carried out with the provisional cause of death as asphyxia (awaiting toxicology) and (1.b) hanging.

The hearing was adjourned for further inquiries and will resume at a later date.

No further details were given about the background or circumstances of his death.
