A hearing into the tragic death of a young mum in hospital has taken place ahead of a full inquest.
Laura Higginson, 30, died of multi-organ failure and sepsis on April 19 2017, two weeks after being admitted to Whiston Hospital with sickness and pneumonia.
During her stay, the mum-of-two was given multiple doses of paracetamol which were too high for a woman of her size. She weighed just 5st 6lb when she was admitted on April 5, 2017, and should only have been given around 500mg doses of paracetamol. However, she was instead given a number of 1g doses over the course of three days.

At Sefton Coroner's Court today, December 15, coroner Simon Holder called for arrangements to be made to hear evidence from Laura Higginson's husband Antony Higginson and the hospital staff involved in Mrs Higginson's care, including doctors, A&E consultants, and nurses who administered the drugs, at a full inquest at a later date.
Her husband Antony Higginson, 47, said: "We have always maintained as a family that we were never told about the overdoses.
"In 2017, we never had a conversation about whether Laura had suffered a paracetamol overdose. Nobody told Laura's mum or dad or me - the Trust never told us that Laura had been overdosed."
A further pre-inquest review was arranged for March 2023.
