Inquest into death of man, 22, after prison release will go ahead

An inquest into the death of a young man who died after being released from prison is set to go ahead. Jordan Clare passed away aged 22 at Stepping Hill Hospital on August 28, 2020.

A pre-inquest review into his death was held at Stockport Coroners' Court today (September 26). During the review, representatives from multiple organisations were in attendance all via video link including Greater Manchester Police, Stockport Homes, Stockport Council, Probation Services, GPs as well as Jordan's sister Jessica Clare who was represented by a family solicitor.

The hearing was chaired by assistant coroner Adrian Farrow who discussed the running order of witnesses and any other issues the family wanted to raise.

During the pre-inquest review, coroner Farrow confirmed that Mr Clare's 'medical history and support offered' to him 'following his release from prison' will be provided as evidence during the inquest due to start on October 6 at Stockport Coroners' court.
