Inquest into death of a woman who drowned at Bridgewater Canal to be heard next month

An inquest into the death of a woman who drowned in a canal in Trafford will begin next month.

Susan McGowan, 57, was found dead at the Bridgewater Canal, in Altrincham, last summer.

Ms McGowan died on June 22, 2021, according to court listings.

A pre-inquest review was held at Stockport Coroners’ Court on Wednesday (January 6).

The court has revealed that Ms McGowan’s cause of death has been recorded as drowning and codeine toxicity.

The inquest was adjourned with a final hearing set for February 15.
