There would be few times in history where Australian industry faced the intensity of the challenges facing the nation today. But you would hardly know it. Despite the challenges, there is a renewed optimism among local innovators and entrepreneurs about new opportunities for growth.
A renewed interest in industrial policy at the federal level is helping to drive fresh ambition for building new capability in this country.
This is reflected in the level of interest in this year’s InnovationAus Awards for Excellence, which in 2023 attracted a record 100+ entries.
Today we unveil our finalists for 11 awards categories, an outstanding group that includes more than 30 Australian companies representing technologies and sectors ranging from quantum computing to artificial intelligence, to hydrogen production, healthcare, and food.
Now in its third year, the InnovationAus Awards for Excellence is well entrenched in the calendar as the biggest annual awards program for the technology and innovation ecosystems in the country.
This year’s black-tie dinner extravaganza will be held at Sydney’s iconic Hordern Pavilion on November 1. It’s a magic night for the industry, and this year we aim to fill to barn and blow off the roof.

“From the very beginning we have strived to create an Awards program that puts a spotlight on the talent and the ambition that exists here in Australia, and to showcase the products and services of these local heroes to the world,” said InnovationAus.com publisher Corrie McLeod.

The finalists for the leadership categories for these awards, including the Paul Shetler Disrupter of the Year Award and the Innovation Leadership Award will be announced closer to the event.
Voting for the People’s Choice Award will open in the coming weeks, while the top prize of the night – the Australian Hero Award – will be announced at the Awards gala dinner.
