A husband and wife have been left ‘unbelievably upset’ after bungling vandals targeted their house in a late night spray paint attack.
Catherine and Nigel Chandler were horrified to discover the word ‘peado’ had been daubed on the garage door of their Huddersfield home on Friday.
The phrase ‘sx pest’ was also sprayed on the side of their BMW motor while the words ‘peedo John’ was painted on the wall of the property.
A police investigation has been launched.
Catherine said they believe it’s a case of mistaken identity as no one by the name John lives at the property, Yorkshire Live reports.
She said: "This is unbelievably upsetting. It is utterly bizarre. I can only think it is a mistaken identity. It is quite worrying."
She thinks two people may have carried out the attack due to two different spellings of peedo/peado.
It is believed to have happened between 9.15pm and 10.15pm on Friday, August 20.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police received a report of criminal damage to a vehicle and property at Sharp Lane, Huddersfield, shortly after 10:50pm on Friday night.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
Inspector Lee Baragwanath of Kirklees District Neighbourhood Policing Team added: "Enquiries are ongoing, but at this stage we are at a loss as to why the victim’s vehicle has been targeted in this way."
