Inner City Helping Homeless chairman David Hall steps down due to safety threat as former Lord Mayor Christy Burke takes interim charge

The chairman of embattled homeless charity Inner City Helping Homeless has resigned over what he called “threats to his personal safety”.

David Hall informed staff and volunteers on Friday that it was “not safe for me to attend the office”.

Earlier this month, the co-founder of the charity, Independent Dublin City Councillor Anthony Flynn, was found dead in his home in a suspected suicide.

Mr Flynn, 34, had been subject to a Garda investigation into alleged sexual abuse but had never been arrested or charged.

Former Lord Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke has now been appointed interim chairman of ICHH.

A statement from ICHH said: “Following the resignation of David Hall as chairman of ICHH we can confirm that as of Friday August 27 councillor Christy Burke has agreed to take up the position of chairman of ICHH for a short period of time.

“There will be an emergency general meeting held in the near future and further updates will follow from that meeting.”
