Inner City Helping Homeless among those affected by torrential Dublin rain as food warehouse roof collapses

As Dublin was drenched in torrential rain yesterday, a number of premises across the capital suffered water damage.

Charity Inner City Helping Homeless, which provides care and support to homeless people across the capital, was among those affected.

The roof of its warehouse that stocks food for families was damaged due to the sudden downpour.

ICHH CEO and Dublin city councillor Anthony Flynn said: "The rain has cause substantial damage to the roof on our warehouse facility this evening.

"Well done to the guys onsite who managed to save the stock in the back area. Looks like major works to be carried out tomorrow before we can reopen.

"Over 2,500 people a month depend on the facility for food redistribution!"

It added to a busy evening for the charity, which dealt with families who could not access their accommodation for the night while rain poured down.

They also appealed for donations of sleeping bags as many rough sleepers faced the heavy rain. You can donate here.
